In today’s fast-paced world, the constant stream of news can be a major source of stress: wars, economic instability, natural disasters caused by climate change, earthquakes, fires... The list goes on. On top of this, we’re bombarded with information every day, making it difficult to escape the overwhelming tide of events.
Recently, I’ve been hearing more and more from clients, as well as from people around me—both in person and on social media—that they’ve started adjusting their daily routines to avoid news during their quiet moments. For example, they’re choosing to keep dinner times free of news because it’s simply "too much to bear." It’s clear that many of us need help in managing the emotional impact of the news.
Bach Flower remedies offer valuable support for navigating the emotional challenges that news can bring. These remedies can help us stay balanced, so the constant flow of information doesn't overwhelm or destabilize us, protecting our overall well-being.
As with any life experience, each of us reacts to hearing the news in our own unique way. Therefore, when selecting the right remedy (or remedies) to support us, it’s essential to consider how the news makes us feel. If you’re already familiar with Bach Flower Remedies, you’ll know that there’s no “one-size-fits-all” solution. The remedy that works for me may not be effective for you, and vice versa.
What Are Bach Flower Remedies?
Bach Flower remedies are a system of 38 flower essences, each designed to address specific emotional states. Each remedy corresponds to a particular negative emotion and works by balancing that emotion, transforming it into a more positive state through the healing vibrations of the flowers. These remedies are made from flowers and plants, with the preparation process involving infusing the flowers in water and sunlight, creating a potent yet gentle essence.
Bach Flower remedies have no known side effects and are completely safe. They are complementary to any other therapy or medication, making them a versatile tool for emotional healing.
Discovered by Dr. Edward Bach, a renowned London physician, bacteriologist, and homeopath in the 1930s, these remedies have been used successfully worldwide by both healthcare professionals and individuals seeking self-help.
Which Bach Flower Remedies can help navigating the news?
In case of emergency...Rescue Remedy®
When we are caught off guard and need immediate emotional support:Rescue Remedy® is the emergency formula created by Dr. Bach. It’s designed for times of crisis or when we’re feeling overwhelmed by distress.
Rescue Remedy® is a blend of five Bach Flower Remedies—Star of Bethlehem, Rock Rose, Impatiens, Clematis, and Cherry Plum—and it can be used during any emotional crisis, including traumatic events or high-stress situations.
You can take four drops directly into your mouth, add them to a glass of water, or apply them to your pulse points—whichever method works best for you.

Pay attention to how you feel during and after hearing the news—what shifts occur in your emotional state? These reactions are key to identifying which remedies can support you.
Do you feel scared? Or even terrified?
Are the news shocking or overwhelming?
Do you worry so much that you can’t stop thinking about what you heard?
Do you feel frustrated?
Whatever your personal response to the situation, there is a remedy (or combination of remedies) that is perfectly suited to your needs. In fact, with 38 Bach Flower remedies to choose from, there are almost 293 million possible combinations to help you find the emotional balance you need!
Here are some Bach Flower remedies that can help you navigate the news:
Mimulus: If hearing the news triggers specific fears, such as worrying about losing your job, feeling unsafe, or fearing a global crisis, Mimulus is the remedy for you. This flower essence helps you face your fears with quiet courage, allowing you to regain control over your emotions and enjoy life again, despite the challenges of today’s world.
Aspen: If the news leaves you feeling uneasy or anxious without being able to pinpoint why—if you have a vague sense that something bad is about to happen but can’t identify what—Aspen is the remedy for you. It brings inner peace, faith, and positive energy, helping you find calm and reassurance in uncertain times.
Rock Rose: When the news terrifies you, causing feelings of panic or terror, Rock Rose is the remedy that can help. It brings you a sense of calm and clarity, helping you regain control of your emotions and clear your mind when fear overwhelms you.
Star of Bethlehem: If the news has shaken you to your core and left you feeling shocked or traumatized, Star of Bethlehem is the remedy you need. Known for its comforting and soothing qualities, it helps to dissipate shock and emotional distress, allowing you to heal from difficult information.
White Chestnut: If you find yourself thinking about the news over and over, unable to stop worrying, White Chestnut can help. It calms the mind and restores focus, freeing you from repetitive, anxious thoughts so you can live more fully in the present and replace worry with trust.
Vervain: You have strong opinions about the news and believe there is a way to make the world better and right the wrongs. This drives you to engage in heated discussions with others and push yourself beyond exhaustion, feeling it's your duty to make a difference. But then, you find yourself frustrated or feeling like you can’t do enough. If this resonates with you, Vervain is the remedy to help restore balance. It will encourage you to let go, practice tolerance, and prioritize self-care.
Honeysuckle: If you find yourself longing for the past, feeling nostalgic for “the good old days” and fearing that the future will only get worse, Honeysuckle can help you reconnect with the present. It encourages you to believe that positive change is still possible, bringing hope for a brighter future despite the challenges we face today.
To summarize:

These are just a few examples that highlight how Bach Flower Remedies can be a valuable support and ally in our daily lives. By addressing our emotional imbalances day by day and gradually correcting negative patterns, we can eventually become more in tune with our true selves. This process helps us live a happier, healthier life and unlock our full potential.
How Do I Take the Remedies?
Directly in your mouth: Place 2 drops directly in your mouth. Repeat if necessary (there is no risk of overdose with these flower essences).
In Water: Add 2 drops of each remedy you selected to a glass of water (or any drink of your choice) and sip throughout the day. Some of my clients like to add their drops to the water bottle they carry with them throughout the day.
Create a Personalized Remedy Mix: You can combine up to 7 remedies in a 30ml dropper bottle with spring water ( put 2 drops for each remedy ), taking 4 drops from that bottle at least 4 times a day. You can also add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin to the mix as a preservative. This blend should last around three weeks.
This blog is just a general view on Bach Flower Remedies, as I always remind here, they work better if selected based on your personal state and unique traits.
That’s why I suggest to seek guidance from a qualified Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner, who can help select the remedies best suited to your needs.
I would be honored to assist you. You can find me on the Public Register of the Practitioners on The Bach Centre Website or you can book a free introductory consultation with me directly here: https://www.feel-heal-thrive.com/book-your-consultation
