Jealousy, envy, resentment, the need for revenge…

In today’s world of constant connection, it has become harder than ever to stop comparing ourselves to others. Achievements, love stories, family milestones, career successes — they are always on display, ready for us to measure ourselves against.

But what if we shifted our perspective? What if we could accept that each of us has our own unique journey — and that it is both simpler, and far healthier, to feel genuine happiness, or at least peace, for another person’s good fortune?

These emotions are nothing to be proud of, and often we try to hide or deny them. Yet the truth is, they are part of human nature — as real as fear, grief, or sadness. There is no shame in acknowledging them. In fact, admitting and addressing them is the first step toward healing.

When we find ourselves stuck in jealousy, envy, or resentment, the Bach Flower Remedy Holly offers a gentle path back to balance.

What Are Bach Flower Remedies? The Legacy of Dr. Edward Bach

Dr. Edward Bach, a British physician and bacteriologist, dedicated his life to discovering a natural and completely safe way to treat the emotional roots of disease. His belief was revolutionary: emotional imbalance is often the true root cause of illness. By addressing our emotions, we not only support physical healing, but may also prevent illness altogether.

Through years of close observation, Dr. Bach noticed something profound: people’s emotional responses — their attitude, personality, and resilience — directly influenced their ability to heal. Some patients fell ill frequently, while others remained remarkably well in the same circumstances.

This insight led him, nearly a century ago, to develop a system of 38 natural flower remedies. Today, they are still used worldwide — by healthcare professionals and individuals — as gentle tools for self-healing, balance, and emotional well-being.

The Positive Qualities of Holly 🌸

Among these remedies, Holly holds a unique role. The energy of holly flowers, captured in the remedy, helps shift our emotional state back toward love, acceptance, and joy for others. It gently dissolves feelings of jealousy, suspicion, envy, and resentment — emotions that can hold us back from living fully, letting go, and moving forward into a more peaceful, joyous life.

In his book The Twelve Healers and Other Remedies, Dr. Bach wrote about those who benefit from Holly:

“Within themselves they may suffer much.”

This statement beautifully reflects the heart of Bach’s philosophy: negative emotions are not meant to be judged. They are not “wrong.” They are simply the other side of the positive qualities that represent our true nature. By acknowledging and healing them, we return to our natural state of love and harmony.
