I want to start this post by emphasizing that, as human beings, we can sometimes experience strong negative emotions—especially when we're hurt. There’s no shame in this; it’s a natural part of being human. Rather than denying these feelings, it’s important to acknowledge them, as doing so is a crucial step in the healing process.
Healing a broken heart is a deeply personal journey, and sometimes we need a little extra help to find peace and forgiveness. Whether heartbreak comes from the end of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, or betrayal, it can stir up intense emotions. If these feelings are left unprocessed, they can cloud our ability to move forward and experience the love and joy that life has to offer.
🌸 What is Holly?
Holly is one of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies developed by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s. Known for its ability to heal feelings of anger, jealousy, and resentment, Holly works on both the heart and the mind, easing emotional turmoil. It’s particularly beneficial for those overwhelmed by negative emotions such as envy, suspicion, or bitterness—emotions that often arise from painful experiences.
When we’re suffering from a broken heart, it’s easy to become trapped in a cycle of negative emotions. We might feel anger toward the person who hurt us, jealousy over what we've lost, or deep sadness and resentment over the situation. These emotions can make it hard to move forward and heal. This is where Holly comes in.

🌸 How Does Holly Help Heal a Broken Heart?
Holly’s primary role is to release negative emotions and open the heart to feelings of love, compassion, and forgiveness. If you’ve been struggling with intense feelings of anger, hurt, or jealousy, Holly can help dissolve those emotional blockages, making space for you to heal and begin loving yourself and others again.
Anger and Resentment: Holly is often recommended when you’re dealing with unresolved anger or bitterness. These feelings often stem from feeling wronged or betrayed. Holly helps release pent-up emotions, allowing you to see the situation with a clearer perspective, leading to emotional freedom.
Jealousy: Whether it’s jealousy over a former partner, someone else’s happiness, or feelings of inadequacy, jealousy can be exhausting. Holly helps transform jealousy into understanding and connection, allowing you to move beyond envy and open yourself to compassion.
Distrust: After a heart-wrenching experience, it’s natural to fear future hurt or betrayal. Holly helps dissolve the emotional walls that may have been built as a protective measure. By addressing these walls, Holly helps restore trust in yourself and others.
🌸 How to Use Holly for Emotional Healing
There are a few ways:
Directly in Your mouth: Place 2 drops directly in your mouth. Repeat if necessary (there is no risk of overdose with these flower essences).
In Water: Add 2 drops of Holly to a glass of water (or any drink of your choice) and sip throughout the day. Some of my clients like to add their drops to a water bottle they carry with them throughout the day, ensuring they get a consistent dosage. I do the same when I spend the day out.
Create a Personalized Remedy Mix: You can combine Holly with other remedies that address your unique broken heart emotional state. For example: Sweet Chestnut for despair or hopelessness., Mimulus for fear about the future, Star of Bethlehem for shock and grief or Willow for feelings of victimhood or resentment. You can combine up to 7 remedies in a 30ml dropper bottle with spring water ( put 2 drops for each remedy ), taking 4 drops several times a day. You can also add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin as a preservative. This blend should last around three weeks.

This blog is just a general view on Bach Flower Remedies, I always remind my readers that they work better if selected based on your personal state and unique traits.
That’s why it’s better to seek guidance from a qualified Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner, who can help select the remedies best suited to your needs.
